Overview
The Rogue SM-1 Monster Squat Stand 2.0 is the heavy-duty, compact powerhouse of the Monster Series. Built with the same massive 3x3” 11-gauge steel and 1” hardware as Rogue's full power racks, it is designed for athletes who need maximum stability and weight capacity in a space-restricted environment. Standing at just 73” tall, it is the ideal solution for basements with low ceilings or small garage gyms. Its "flat-foot" base design provides a self-stabilizing foundation that does not require bolting to the floor.

Performance Benefits
Low Ceiling Solution: At 73", this is one of the few elite-level racks that can fit in almost any basement or spare room while still supporting 1,000+ LB loads.
No Floor Anchoring Required: The U-shaped flat-foot base and wide triangle plates create a stable foundation that resists tipping, making it perfect for renters or those with specialized flooring.
Monster Ecosystem: Despite its size, it is fully compatible with Rogue’s premium Monster Series attachments, such as the adjustable monolift, landmines, and specialized J-cups.
Floor Protection: Includes thick rubber end caps on the base to increase traction and prevent the steel from scratching your gym floor.
Precision and Ease: Laser-cut numbering takes the guesswork out of lining up J-cups, a feature often missing from budget squat stands.
Maintenance and Care
Safety Restriction: Due to the lack of a pull-up bar connecting the top of the uprights, Plate Storage Posts and the Monster Matador are NOT recommended for use on the SM-1. These can cause the uprights to shift or the unit to become unstable.
Hardware Audit: Periodically check the 1” hardware for tightness. While extremely robust, the vibrations from heavy re-racks can occasionally require minor tightening over time.
UHMW Liner Inspection: Regularly check the plastic liners on your J-cups to ensure they aren't worn through. Replacing these liners is a cheap way to protect the knurling of your expensive barbells.
Surface Cleaning: Wipe down the Satin Black finish with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners that can mar the powder coat.
Level Surface: For the best performance, ensure the stand is placed on a level surface. Minor floor slopes can be corrected with thin rubber shims if necessary.
Warranty Information
Frame and Welds: Limited Lifetime Warranty.
Finish: Cosmetic wear and tear are not covered under the standard warranty.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I add a pull-up bar later?
A: No. The SM-1 is not designed to accommodate a pull-up bar. If you require a pull-up bar, the SM-2 (90" height) or SM-3 (108" height) are the appropriate models.
Q: Is it safe for heavy squats?
A: Absolutely. It is rated for over 1,000 LB. However, for maximum safety when lifting alone, it is highly recommended to purchase a pair of Monster Safety Spotter Arms.
Q: Does it move when I re-rack the weight?
A: Like all non-bolted squat stands, a slight shift may occur during aggressive re-racking of heavy weight. This is normal and does not compromise the structural safety of the unit.
Q: Can I use 5/8" (Monster Lite) attachments on this?
A: No. The SM-1 uses 1" hardware. Monster Lite attachments will not fit the hole diameter.
