Overview
The Rogue Axle is a heavy-duty, 2-inch diameter specialty fat bar designed to challenge grip strength and increase the intensity of standard movements. Developed in collaboration with Rob Orlando of Hybrid Athletics, the Axle is ideal for strongman training, powerlifting, and CrossFit. Unlike a standard barbell, the Axle has no knurling and no rotating sleeves, creating a more taxing experience for the wrists and forearms during deadlifts, cleans, and presses.

Key Features & Specifications
Diameter: 1.9" (approx. 48mm) — significantly thicker than a standard 28mm Olympic bar.
Weight: 25 lbs (unloaded).
Length: 84" (7 feet).
Construction: 1.5” Schedule 80 steel pipe.
Finish: Rogue Signature Black Powder Coat — provides a firm, textured grip despite the lack of knurling.
Distance Between Collars: 52".
Loadable Sleeve Length: 15.5".
Rotation: None. The sleeves are fixed, making the weight feel "heavier" and more unstable during explosive movements.
Static Test: Tested at 650 lbs.
Origin: Made in the USA.
Performance Benefits
Grip Training: The oversized diameter makes it nearly impossible to fully wrap your hand around the bar, forcing the fingers and forearms to work harder.
Wrist Stability: The fixed sleeves (no rotation) increase torque on the wrists, making every lift—especially the clean and overhead press—a stability challenge.
Versatility: While built for Strongman lifts, it can be used for benching, pressing, and deadlifting to break training plateaus.
Maintenance and Care
The powder-coat finish is durable but requires basic upkeep to maintain the grip and prevent oxidation.
Regular Brushing: Use a synthetic (nylon) bristle brush to clear chalk and sweat from the bar after use. Important: NEVER use a steel brush, as it will scratch and strip the powder coat.
Cleaning: Wipe the bar down with a light coat of 3-in-1 oil or high-quality machine oil to preserve the finish, especially in humid garage gym environments. Wipe off any excess with a dry cloth.
Sleeve Care: Metal-on-metal contact with iron plates will naturally cause wear on the powder coat over time. This is considered normal wear and tear.
Warranty Information
The Rogue Axle is typically backed by a Construction Warranty against manufacturing defects.
Coverage: Applies to the original purchaser.
Exclusions: Does not cover the powder-coat finish or damage caused by negligence (e.g., dropping the bar on safety pins, boxes, or benches).
Warning: While tested at 650 lbs, the bar can bend if dropped abusively with heavy loads on non-impact-absorbing surfaces.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Can I rack this bar in a standard Rogue rack? A: Yes. The 52" distance between the collars allows the Rogue Axle to be racked on all standard Rogue power racks, squat stands, and rigs.
Q: Do standard barbell collars work? A: No. Standard Olympic collars are designed for 50mm sleeves. The Axle has a 1.9" diameter. You must use specialized Axle Collars or Rogue HG 2.0 Axle Collars.
Q: Why doesn't it weigh 45 lbs? A: Because it is constructed from high-strength steel pipe rather than a solid steel rod, it is lighter than a standard barbell. This allows for a lower starting weight for technique work or high-rep conditioning.
Q: Is there a shorter version? A: Yes. For tighter spaces, see the Rogue Stubby Axle (60" total length, 20 lbs).
