Overview
The Tsunami Bar® Speed (also known as Level 1) is a 90” oscillating flexible barbell specifically engineered for dynamic athletic development. Unlike rigid steel bars, the Speed bar is constructed from patented composite materials that adapt to the user's movements, acting as shock absorbers to reduce joint stress while challenging stabilizing muscles. It is the premier tool for sports-specific patterns, mobility work, acceleration mechanics, and jump-based protocols, allowing athletes to train with explosive power and responsive feedback.

Performance Benefits
Dynamic Athleticism: The bar's high-frequency oscillation facilitates explosive movements, helping athletes generate speed and power in sport-specific drills.
Joint Longevity: The adaptive design reduces high-impact force on tendons and ligaments, allowing for "softer" training on the shoulders and elbows compared to steel bars.
Stability & Core Recruitment: The flexible shaft creates a chaotic load that forces the body to engage stabilizing muscles and the core to maintain proper bar path and balance.
Rehabilitation & Prep: Frequently used in "Phase 1" of athletic preparation or prehab programs to prepare joints for heavier, more rigid loads.
Usage and Loading Instructions
Because the Speed bar is extremely lightweight and flexible, specific handling protocols are required to ensure safety:
Manage the Load: The Speed bar will likely flip off J-cups or a bench if weight is managed improperly. Never remove all weight from one end while the other remains loaded.
Unloading Protocol: Before removing plates, push all plates on the opposite end inward against the wear pads and ensure the bar is centered in the J-cups to reduce the possibility of tipping.
Pinned Collars: Use only the provided 3” Pinned Croc Lock™ collars. Standard collars may slide or fail under the bar’s rapid vibration.
Plate Spacers: Always install the provided Plate Spacers to keep weight from shifting toward the center, which could dampen the intended oscillation.
Maintenance and Care
Storage: Store the bar horizontally and unloaded on a flat surface or dedicated rack. Storing the bar loaded or at an angle for long periods can cause permanent bowing or resin leakage.
Inspection: Regularly check the composite shaft for stress marks, splintering, or cracks. Discontinue use immediately if structural damage is detected.
Cleaning: Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive chemicals or metal brushes that could scratch the composite surface.
Climate: Avoid long-term exposure to extreme heat (100°F+) or direct sunlight to preserve the composite material's flexibility.
Warranty Information
The Tsunami Bar Speed is backed by a Manufacturer’s Warranty carried out by Tsunami Bar Sports.
Coverage: Applies to structural integrity and functionality for the original purchaser.
Exclusions: Does not cover damage from overloading (beyond the 90 lb total load capacity), dropping onto hard surfaces/safety pins, or improper storage leading to bar deformity.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Can I use this for my main squat or bench work? A: This bar is a specialty tool for speed and stabilization. While you can squat and bench with it, it is limited to a 90 lb total load. For heavier strength-focused training, see the Tsunami Bar Force (up to 270 lbs).
Q: Do I need special plates? A: No, it is 100% compatible with standard 2" center-hole Olympic bumper or steel plates.
Q: Why does the bar feel "shaky"? A: That is the intentional Oscillating Kinetic Energy (OKE). The shakiness is the feedback mechanism that trains your nervous system to stabilize and control movement more effectively.
