Overview
Co-developed with Strongman legend Steve Slater, Rogue Monster Bells are a 21st-century evolution of the classic circus dumbbell. These American-made implements are designed for the "Circus Dumbbell Clean and Press," one of the most iconic and challenging events in strength sports. Featuring a large-diameter handle and a loadable bell system, Monster Bells provide a unique training stimulus that targets upper body power, core stability, and extreme grip strength.

Key Features and Specifications
Construction: Heavy-duty steel, manufactured in Ohio, USA.
Handle: Large-diameter handle (2.5" to 3") with a smooth finish (no knurling) to challenge grip mechanics.
Loadable Design: Hollow bells allow for custom weight adjustments using sand, lead shot, or other granular media.
Weight Tolerance: Precision manufacturing with a strict weight tolerance ranging from +/- 2 LB to +/- 10 LB (depending on size).
Available Sizes:
6" Bell: 33 LB Empty | 19" Length | 2.5" Handle | 75+ LB Max Load.
8" Bell: 52 LB Empty | 21" Length | 2.5" Handle | 150+ LB Max Load.
10" Bell: 85 LB Empty | 25" Length | 2.5" Handle | 200+ LB Max Load.
12" Bell: 125 LB Empty | 29" Length | 3" Handle | 250+ LB Max Load.
Finish: Signature Rogue Black Powder Coat.
Performance Benefits
Strongman Event Specificity: Replicates the dimensions and leverage points of the Thomas Inch or Cyr-style dumbbells used in professional competitions.
Grip & Forearm Overload: The massive handle diameter prevents a full wrap-around grip, forcing the hand and forearm muscles into overdrive to stabilize the weight.
Core & Shoulder Stability: The awkward, top-heavy nature of the bells requires aggressive core bracing and shoulder stabilization during overhead movements.
Versatile Strength Tool: Beyond the clean and press, Monster Bells are effective for rows, weighted carries, and one-arm Turkish get-ups.
Maintenance and Care
Filling Instructions: Use a 5/8" Allen Wrench (not included) to remove the threaded endcaps. For maximum weight, load with lead shot; for standard training, sand is effective.
Emptying Note: Due to the threaded tube design inside the bell, lead shot or sand can sometimes "pool" around the opening. Agitation and tilting may be required to fully empty the implement.
Cleaning: Wipe the powder-coated exterior with a damp cloth and mild soap. To maintain the finish, avoid using chemical solvents.
Storage: The bells are flat-ended, allowing for stable vertical storage. Store in a dry environment to prevent any internal moisture from affecting the filler material.
Inspection: Regularly check that the endcaps are tight and secure before every training session.
Warranty Information
Rogue Monster Bells are built to be "basically indestructible" under normal training conditions.
Note: Warranty typically covers manufacturing defects in the steel and welds. Cosmetic wear to the powder coat from use or dropping on abrasive surfaces is not covered.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why is the handle so thick? A: The 2.5" to 3" handle is a key feature of the circus dumbbell. It makes the weight feel significantly heavier by limiting your grip mechanical advantage, which is essential for Strongman competition prep.
Q: Can I reach the 150+ LB capacity on the 8" bell with sand? A: No. To reach the maximum load capacities listed, you must use a dense media like lead shot. Sand will typically only reach about 50–60% of the maximum lead-shot weight.
Q: Does it come with an Allen wrench? A: No, a 5/8" Allen wrench is required for the endcaps and must be sourced separately.
Q: Is there knurling on the handle? A: No, the handles are smooth to better replicate historical circus dumbbells and to force the athlete to rely entirely on hand strength and chalk for grip.
