Instructions for Replacing Your Cable
If you are changing the diameter of your cable (e.g., switching from a 3.2mm to a 1.8mm), you must also change the internal bushings in your handles.
Disassemble: Remove the old cable and handles.
Remove Bushings: Pop out the existing bushings by pinching the flanges in and pushing them through the handle. (Tip: A small flat-head screwdriver can help pry them out).
Install New Bushings: Insert the new bushings provided with your replacement cable into the handles.
Assemble: Thread the new cable through the handles, attach the set screw, and slide on the rubber end cap.
Size & Cut: Stand on the rope to determine your ideal length, tighten the set screw, and trim the excess wire with wire cutters.
Maintenance and Surface Recommendations
Surface Restriction: All PRO replacement cables—especially the 1.8mm bare steel—must be used on a rubber gym mat or smooth surface. Using these cables on concrete, asphalt, or dirt will cause the coating to strip and the steel core to fray almost immediately.
Bushing Inspection: Ensure bushings are properly seated to prevent friction and ensure the 360-degree swivel mechanism works effectively.
Screw Tightness: Periodically check the adjustable set screw to ensure it remains tight during high-volume workouts.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Which cable diameter should I choose? A: Choose the 1.8mm for maximum speed (Expert), the 2.3mm for everyday conditioning (All-Purpose), and the 3.2mm if you prefer more "feedback" to help time your double-unders.
Q: Can I use these cables with SR-1 or SR-2 handles? A: These cables are specifically designed for the bushing and head system of the Rogue PRO handles. For other ropes, please see the Rogue SR Replacement Cables.
Q: Do I need to buy the bushings separately? A: No. Every PRO replacement cable includes the correct size bushings for that specific cable diameter.
Q: How often should I replace my cable? A: Replace your cable if you see any exposed wire (on coated models) or if the bare stainless steel begins to fray or uncoil.
